  • The Cold War begins

    The col war began shortly after world war ii. It was solely focused on the tension and between the powers of the eastern bloc and the western bloc. The eastern bloc consisted of the soviet union and the western bloc consisted of the United States and its allies.
  • The Truman Doctrine

    The Truman Doctrine
    The Truman Doctrine was established by President Harry S Truman in 1947. This policy stated that the United States would have to provide economical, political, and military assistance to all democratic nations under any threat.
  • The Marshall Plan

    The Marshall Plan
    After the end of World War ii, the United States aided Western Europe 13 billion in economic support to help restore and rebuild its economies. This is known as The Marshall Plan
  • The Berlin Airlift

    The Berlin Airlift
    The Berlin Airlift was a period in time when the soviet union blocked western allies railway, canal, and road into Berlin. This was known as the Berlin Blockade. Soon after the United States Air Force along with the French, British, Canadian, etc flew over 200,000 planes to Berlin in about a year to provide them necessity such as food and equipment. That period is known as The Berlin Airlift.
  • The Cold War Turns Hot:Korea

    North Korea without a warning, barged across the boarder of South Korea seizing the capitol of Seoul in South Korea. The main purpose of the invasion was to forcefully reunite North and South Korea again.
  • Communist Revolution in Cuba

    When Castro was release from jail after serving his time, in 1956 he began to take action in this upcoming revolution that he would soon start and that many would join. He took a small group of men into the mountains and soon after started to attack or rebel which lead more people to join his side.
  • The Bay of Pigs

    The Bay of Pigs
    The Bay of Pigs was a failed invasion of Cuba which was quickly stopped by the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency)
  • Khrushchev and Kenndey

    Khrushchev and Kenndey
    At this time Kennedy was the president of the united states and Khrushchev was the leader of the soviet union. They both met Vienna to discuss how the world was doing and this short two day period soon turned into a rivalry between these two men. Both were physically and mentally very different, which was not very hard to see.
  • The Cuban Missile Crisis

    The Cuban Missile Crisis
    This crisis involved the United States and the Soviet Union, under battle. The United States had missiles in Italy and Turkey while the Soviet Union had their missiles in Cuba. This was known to be the closest the Cold War would have come to turning to a Nuclear War. Within the confrontation and discussion of both the U.S. and the Soviet Union, an agreement was made to remove the blockades and missiles.
  • On the Brink of Nuclear War

    President Kennedy went on television to address the missile crisis that was in Cuba. The confrontation still between the United States and the Soviet Union remained and it wasn't until everything was on the brink of a nuclear war that people started to come to terms and settle an agreement. This was the closest America has ever gotten to an all out nuclear war.
