Was Queensland peaceful during it's colonisation?

    Dawn ambush attack by the British on an Aboriginal Camp
    Captain Cluine and his detachment of the 17th regiment, had surrounded a camp belonging to the people of Ngugi at Kooringal. The attacked occurred, and almost 20 Aboriginals died. George Watkins wrote about the event, "Nearly all were shot down. My informant, a young boy at the time, escaped with a few others by hiding in a clump of bushes." This is one of many conflict events to follow, justifying that Queensland wasn't a peaceful Colonisation.

    Conflict at Grantham
    James Rogers and band of men, are heavily armed with muskets and are mounted on horseback. The people of Yuggera had a camp called Yggerah. James and his men set out to seek revenge for the Yuggera attacks on Mocatta, Somerville and Balfour station. The fight began with 2 whites speared and an unknown amount of Aboriginal injuries. The mounted whites stormed the camp and caused an unknown amount of Yuggera deaths. Queensland was full of Aboriginal resistance and conflict.
  • Kilcoy Poisoning

    Kilcoy Poisoning
    At Kilcoy, Queensland, another poisoning occurs, estimating to a total death toll of 30-60 Aboriginals. Giggarbarah and Woongunbarah people had eaten flour interweaved with arsenic. The settlers and Aboriginals absolutely despised each other for their mass killing. Queensland was far from a peaceful colonisation.

    Ambush at Yandilla and Tummaville.
    Ralph Gore and another 5 men begin a mounted charge on an unknown Aboriginal clan rounding up Cattle. The mounted charge cause 6 or more deaths from the Aboriginal side. This constant amount of conflict would not stop, it continued on for many years to follow.

    Killing at Mt Haldon, Darling Downs
    Christopher Rolleston was enraged at the murder of Richard White by the Aboriginal people. Christopher assembled a party and set out to seek revenge. He met the Aboriginals at Mt Haldon and managed to kill 6 or more Aboriginals.
  • Battle of the one tree hill

    Battle of the one tree hill
    September the 1st, 1843. Aboriginal leader Multuggerah led an Aboriginal ambush on squatters near Toowoomba, at one tree hill. The squatters infuriated, led a revenge party after Multuggerah and his party. The Aboriginals fled, but were later tracked down by the Military of Queensland, and were caught and killed at Rosewood Scrub. (Picture of Rosewood Scrub)
  • Massacre at Darkey Flat

    Massacre at Darkey Flat
    The owners at Talgai station wanted to prevent Aboriginals banding at Talgai station. The owners and station hands set out near the Talgai station and massacred several Bigambul peoples.

    The Whiteside Station owner had poisoned damper that was offered to the Gubbi Gubbi people. 50-60 Aboriginals died from the poison.
  • Revenge killings at Umbercollie Station

    Revenge killings at Umbercollie Station
    John Marks angered by the death of his Son killed in 1847 by Aboriginals, he assembles an avenge party full of stockmen and settlers. His party rode south to Bonnall station were they'd encounter 40 Bigambul peoples camped along the river bed. John Marks and his party killed all of the Aboriginals and burnt down their camp.
  • Night attack at Cullinlargino station

    Night attack at Cullinlargino station
    An unknown amount of Aboriginals from the area of Nogoa river, attack the Colonist at Cullinlargino station. The Aboriginals are equipped with nullas-nullas and manage to kill 19 colonist during the night time fight. Queensland was notrious with it's amount of massacres and guerilla war.
