I believe a reason for the decline of religion is due to the rise of science. For a long time religion was the only way to explain anything but now we can explain it with science so people have more of a choice. The other reason specifically in Canada that this is happening is because we are in a country where we can be any religion so we started thinking, what if I don't want a religion? This could also explain why Immigrants have kept their faith because they may not have had a choice before.
