WW1
Three years before the great war and used in a few battles, airships were made in large numbers. Made of hydrogen filled bags and a metal frame covered with fabric. These large behemoths could carry bombs which could be dropped on enemy lines. -
WW1
Just before WW1 in 1913, the Vikers company made one of the first fighting planes of that era. It was a two seat plane equiped with a machine gun which the second man would shoot. Unique thing about this plane was that it's propeller was in the rear of the cockpit. -
WW1
During the first world war, larger planes would fly over head carrying large twenty pound bomb's. These were the first bombers ever. They had usually a three man team with the pilot and a gunner on the front and back providing support for enemy planes trying to shoot you down. -
1915
A french engineer Raymond Saulnier, devised a plan to keep men in single seat planes from shooting their propellers off with their machine gun. This was named the Interruptor Gear. It made it so your machine gun could only fire in between your propeller. -
WW2
By this time in history almost all fighter planes where compleatly metal monoplanes that could reach higher altitudes and go faster than the older outdated planes. Also they started becoming noticeably bigger and carryed much bigger firepower -
WW2
In World War Two, bombers got a lot of improvements. Heavily armored and as tough at nails, the bomber planes could drop heavier bombs than before doing much more damage. -
Vietnam War
In Vietnam, the age of helicopters came out during the war. The Bell UH-1 Iroquois more popularly known as the Huey helicopter. They were usually equipped with two machine guns on the side to help the fight. -
Vietnam War
During Vietnam most of the world had discovered the wonders of Jet mechanics. Jet's have no propellers like other planes, but are rather powered by powerful Engines on the rear of the plane. They can carry more weight and are much more lethal than those standard WW2 planes. -
Vietnam
During the time of Vietnam, a new kind of jet came out. This jet was called the Hawker Harrier. This jet was very unique in the way that it could achieve vertical take off which made it very versatile. It was at the time the peak of aviation as that was never done before. -
Gulf War Helicopters
During the Gulf War Helicopters got a major upgrade since Vietnam. the helicopters became much more deadly with faster speed and more firepower and more armored than ever before. Not only have they become more deadly for the weapons they carry they have powerful sonars on them. Equipping sonars makes you more safe as a pilot or a gunner because it enables you to see enemy aircraft in an area around the helicopter. -
Stealth
Years after Vietnam more advanced aircraft was built. The goal was to make the jet's more stealthy than before, making them a lot more deadly. The perfect example of this is the B-2 Spirit. Carefully designed panels that are placed as flat as possible make this massive plane hard to see on radar, almost undetectable. -
UAV
The earliest UAV's date back to World War Two, which were small radio powered drone's. Today we have larger faster and better drones. UAV's (Unmanned Ariel Vehicle's) today can now carry munitions with them, or we can take them to do scouting missions for us on enemy soil if we needed to find a key objective point. They have a few uses which can save our soldiers lives and keep our military personal up and running. -
Future events
By just next year there is supposedly going to be a rather large cargo ship prototype called the Lockheed Martin LMH-1. It can hold up to nineteen passengers and 47,000 pounds. Not to much is known about it other than it's design and it's purpose. -
Future events
In 2030 the company Lockheed is expected to have a jet that can reach hyper sonic speeds. The jet will be able to reach very high altitudes while maintaining high speed. This will be one of if not the greatest spy planes in all of history. -
Future events
By the year 2032 the company that made the B-2 Spirit will have come out with a new plane named the B-21. It will surpass the B-2 and other service bombers. It will be quicker and will be harder to find on the radar. -
