  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    Kind of a climax to the many wars France and Britain had prior. This war was over land in the Ohio and Missipi river valleys
  • Treaty of Paris

    Treaty of Paris
    After France lost a lot of the land they were fighting for, they flee from North America and stop fighting with the British.
  • Period: to

    The Sugar, Quartering, and Stamp Acts

    As a way to have the colonists repay the debt for the British helping with the French and Indian War, the British decided to put major tax on sugar in 1764 which the colonists didn't like. In 1765 the British passed the Quartering Act which forced colonists to allow soldiers to live in their homes. Colonists disliked this too. Lastly, the British enacted the Stamp Act which put large tax on virtually anything printed. This really angered the colonists
  • Townshend Acts

    Townshend Acts
    In 1767, parliament passed the Townshend Acts, which put large taxes on everyday items like glass, lead, paint, paper, and tea
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    After all the taxes being put on them, the colonists were very angry with the British so one night they started throwing snow and rocks at British soldiers and eventually one of the British shot at the colonists which caused other soldiers to shoot and as a result kill 5 colonists
  • The Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party
    England repealed all taxes except the tea tax which made the colonists mad because they still had no representation for this tax. To protest, they dressed up as Native Americans and poured about 1 million dollars worth of tea (today) into the Boston harbor.
