    The Qing dynasty was during 1644 to 1911. It was the last royal dynasty in China.

    Selling of Opium

    Opium was first introduced to China by the Turkish and Arab traders in the late 6th or early 7th century. The practise of smoking tobacco spread from North America to China. Opium smoking soon became popular throughout the country. Opium addictions soon increasesd ad opium importations grew quickly during the first century of the Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1911/12).

    The First Opium Wars began as the Chinese try to stop the ships of opium into China, because too many people are becoming addicted to the drug. The battle was near Canton (Now called Guangzhou).

    In 1842, the Chinese emperor gave up Hong Kong to the British, bringing an end to the first Opium War.

    In 1860, China gave up the Kowloon Peninsula, bringing an end to the second Opium war.

    First Sino-Japanese War
    War was declared on August 1st, 1894. Foreign observers predicted an easy victory for the Chinese, the Japanese had done a more successful job of adapting, and they had better supply's and they were more prepared.

    World War 1
    World War 1 started on June 28, 1914. It stared when a Serbian man assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand. Ferdinand was in line to be king of Austria Hungary, a powerful Empire in the centre of Europe. A month after the assassination, Austria Hungary declared war on Serbia.

    Second Sino-Japanese War

    The Second Sino-Japanese War (1937 - 1945) had a significant impact on the Chinese. It was a catastrophic conflict for the Chinese, causing up to 20 million injuries.

    World War 2

    During the early 1939 the German ruler, Adolf Hitler was determined to invade and occupy Poland. Poland, had guarantees of the French and British military support. Hitler intended to invade Poland anyway.

    Sir David Trench (A Hong Kong president) made Hong Kong one of the top trading competitor.

    The 99 years lease is over
    The English knowing that the 99 years lease is of the New Territories is over, the British asks to renew but Deng refuses and tell the British to give back all of Hong Kong.
