Stanley gets caught "stealing" shoes
Clyde Livingston's shoes fall from the sky. Stanley believes that it was a miracle, so he takes the shoes home. He is planning to give them to his dad, who will use them to start his "business". He gets arrested becuase the shoes belong to a famous person. After being pleaded guilty, he gets sent to camp. -

Stanley gets the choice of either going to jail or camp green lake -
Stanley arrives at camp
After a long bus ride, they finally arrive at camp. He is assigned to tent-D, Mr. Pendanski is their counselour. Mom, as they call their counselour, introduces Stanley to the boys. -
Digging holes
Stanley digs his first hole, he has a hard time since it's his first hole. He takes much longer than all the other boys. Stanley gets informed that the second hole is the hardest because your arms are already tired from the previous day. -
Caveman
Stanley gets the nickname when he trips over a leg and talks back. He trips over an outstretched leg.
"Hey,watch it!" said an orange lump on a chair.
"You watch it," muttered Stanley, too tired to care. He get sthe nickname because it shoes that he is tough and isn't afraid to start a fight. -
Stanley finds a fossil
While digging his second hole, he comes across a fish fossil. He shows the fossil to Mr. Pendanski, hoping that it would be interesting enough to get him a day off. Mr. Pendanski says that the warden isn't interested in fossils, so he has to continue working. -
ZigZag hits Stanley with his shovel

Stanley gives the tube to X-Ray, and he earns himself a closer place in the water line -
RAIN
It begins to rain in the mountains, the first rain for a long, long time. When there is a flash of lightning, Stanley sees BIg Thumb. -

The Warden Stabs Armpit with a pitchfork

Zero asks Stanley to teach him how to read
They make a pact. If Zero digs half of Stanley's hole, then Stanley will teach Zero how to read. -
Magnet steals the sunflower seeds
While the boys are getting their canteens filled, Magent sneaks off and takes the sunflower seeds. He throws the bag to STanley but he doesn't catch it and the seeds spill out just as the water truck arrives. Stanley tries to hide the bag but Mr. Sir sees it. -
Stanley goes to the Warden's office
Mr. Sir takes Stanley to the warden's office because he apperantly stole the sunflower seeds. The Warden asks Stanley to get her makeup kit from the room. She paints her nails with the venom polish and runs her nails down Stanley's face. -
Stanley begins teaching Zero how to read
Stanley asks Zero to recite the alphabet. He teaches him the letter A. He finds out that Zero is very good at math. They decided that Stanley will teach 10 letters a day, 5 capitals, 5 lowercase. -
Mr. Sir doesn't give Stanley water
For payback, Stanley doesn't get his share of water, instead it gets dumped on the ground. -
Stanley realizes what his second discovery was
While lying in this cot, he realizes that the gold tube he found was a lipstick container. He realizes that it belongs to Kate Barlow. -
Hector Zeroni
Stanley finds out that Zero's real name is Hector Zeroni, a decendant from the Zeroni family. His great grandmother, Madame Zeroni, was the one who put the curse on Elya Yelnats, dooming the Yelnats family. -
Stanley finds another object
While digging, Stanley digs up a gold tube with the letters KB carved into it. -
Zigzag's birthday
Zigzag claims that today is his birthday, which means he gets to sleep in and he gets an extra carton of juice. -
The boys bug Stanley about being "better"
They all ask to help dig part of Stanley's hole, and they say that he should be at the front of the water line. -
Stanley pushes Zigzag
Zigzag is bribing Stanley with cookies, Zigzag wants to help Stanley dig his hole. Stanley won't take the cookie, so Zigzag pushes him. Mr. Pendanski sees this and tells Stanley to push him back. Before Stanley can't do damage, Zigzag begins beating him. -
Mr. Pendanski and the warden gang up on Zero
They tease him that he isn't smart and Stanley is wasting his time trying to teach him. They say that all he will ever be good for is digging holes. When Zero had enough of them, he takes a shovel and slams it into Mr. Pensanski's face. -
Zero runs away
After hitting Mr. Pendanski, Zero runs away. Though he left, the boys still have to dig seven holes. -
Twitch
A new boy, Brian aka. Twitch, is assigned to Tent D to take Zero's place.He is called Twitch, becayse he is always twitching. -
Stanley steals the water truck
While Mr. Sir is filling the canteens, Stanley sneaks around to the front of the truck and drives away. He doesn't get very far, because the front wheels ge ts stuck in a hole. So he gets out and runs away. He is tryiong to find ZEri and make sure he isn't dead. -
Stanley finds Zero
In the middle of the desert, Stanley finds a boat. Out of curiosity, he goes to the boat. Stanley called out and a voice from inside answered. Then, a hand reached out and pulled him in. ZEro was in there drinking water, he gave Stanley a jar of the "Sploosh" -
Stanley and Zero go to big thumb
They spot the mountain and decide to go to it. To keep themselves distracted, the think of what might be at the top, an Italian resturant that sells hot fudge sundaes. After that gets boring they start other activities. Stanley spells a word and Zero sounds it out. When Zero passes out, STanley carries him up the mountain and into a nook where there is shade. -
ONIONS
In the mountain nook, Stanley finds water and onions. They manage to survive on just that. -
Curse is broken
After Stanley carries Zero up the mountain, the curse gets lifted. There was a curse because Elya failed to carry Madame Zeroni up the mountain. -
Thief
Zero admits that he is the one who stole the shpes, becayse he thought that they were just regular shoes because he couldn't read the sign -
Heading back
Stanley and Zero decide to head back to camp -
Back at camp
When the boys get back to camp, they hide in a hole. Zero sneaks off to go find food. They expand the hole and find a suitcase with his name on it. -
BUSTED
The Warden and Mr. SIr find the boys. The Warden tells them that they have been a big help with finding the treasure. -
Leaving Camp
Climax
Stanley's laywer comes to pick him up because Stanley has been proven innocent because of Derricks alibi. Stanley says that he won't leave without Zero, so the laywers take Zero with them. -
$2,000,000
Resolution
In the suitcase, they find $2,000,000. They split the the money and Stanley buys a new house for his family. -
No more odor
Stanley's dad finds a cure for the foot odor that Clyde Livingston has. Clyde Livingston becomes the face of the new product. -
Zero meets his mom
A bunch of people gather at Stanley's house at the end of the book. There is a woman there who is ruffling Zero's hair, that is his mom. -
