First sightings of hockey in Canada
The first indoor game of ice hockey was played on March 3, 1875, in Montreal, which is considered to be the birthplace of the current game. The length of the ice rink and the use of a puck are two elements of the game that have persisted to this day. -

On this in 1917 the NHL was founded by Eddie Livingstone. -
Bobby Orr becomes NHL's first million dollar man
When Bobby Orr agrees to a new contract with the Boston Bruins, he becomes the first million-dollar player in the NHL. Orr, who just completed a 139-point season in 1970–71 that established a record, is already the highest-paid player in the NHL. But he makes history by agreeing to a deal with the Bruins that will pay him $200,000 for each of the following five seasons, or $1 million in total. -
Helmetes become mandatory in the NHL
NHL declares that all players in and entering the league must be helmeted. -
Hockey Canada
In 2018 team Canada deafeded Sweaden in the gold medal game of the the world junior championships. Months after the game, Hockey Canada decided to host a gala event.
the next day, a woman's stepfather informed hockey Canada that his daughter was sexually assulted by eight pkayers on the team the night before. An investigation opened about the incident that took place but unfortunatuatly in September 2020 the investigation was closed with no further actions taken. -
The Mitchel Miller controversey
Mithcel Miller was an elite prospect and was drafted 111th overall in 2020 by the Arizona Cayotes but had his draftt status revoked after stories emerged of that he severly bullied an disabled black classmate. In November of 2022 he was signed to an entry level contract with the Boston Bruins. This move caused tremendous controversy because it showed that Boston allowed this type of behaivior in their enviornment.
