Joining a political party meant that Hitler could gain legal power by working his way to be the leader of the party. It also gained him a platform to share his extremist views to Germans about how to make them great again, using his very persuasive and natural public speaking skills. -

Got young activists to advertise for him and also got a lot of boys signing up to be Nazis when they turned 18. -
Nazi propaganda
Vast, highly organised events with banners and marching bands. Joseph Goebbels used people’s fear of uncertainty and instability to portray Hitler as a man with a great vision for prosperity and stability. Hitler appealed to the patriotism of the German people by promising to break free of the restrictions of the Treaty of Versailles. This helped him gain popularity amongst the german people. -
World Depression
Everyone was loosing hope of getting jobs and food so they became more and more desperate. As a result people turned to Hitler for leadership given he was promising just the things they required. -
Hitler became chancellor
Meant that Hitler had more legal power and he was moving up in the political world. -
Ganoral election
Nazis surrounded the voting areas to scare people into voting for Hitler. But he still only got 44% of the population voting for him so he imprisoned 81 Communist Deputies as a result. -
The enabling Act
Meant that Hitler had full control over the laws and changed them into his favour and aligned them with his beliefs. For example he stopped the law from saying that he could be voted out of office. -
The Gestapo
The Nazi Soldiers became secret police and scarred people into supporting Hitler. -
Opposition Parties Banned
Hitler banned opposition political parties so that even if people wanted a change of leadership they had no one else to vote for. -
Hitler becomes Fuhrer
Hitler takes the name Fuhrer which means father and leader and means he is the role of President, Chancellor and Commander of the Army.
