Arthur Dent has changed a lot throughout this novel. Arthur used to be very ignorant about the universe. He has learned a lot about the universe since he was picked up by the vogon's. When Arthur found out that mice were smarter than human's he was very surprised. Arthur is a lot smarter than before he left Earth.
