Sit-ins and freedom riders
Sit ins were started when 4 african american students sat at a white only counter and asked to be served but never were, so they stayed until they were kicked out for closing time, and when people heard about it severasl others did it to. Freedom riders was a group of mixed races white and black that switched seats from section to section as a protest heading to new orleans. the protesters were non violent but there was morre then 300 arrested and the vehicles never made it to new orleans. -
