What? Japanese fighter planes attacked the American naval base at Pearl Harbor. The Japanese destroyed nearly 20 American naval vessels. 2,000 Americans soldiers and sailors died in the attack, and another 1,000 were wounded. -

What? The Japanese hoped to eliminate the United States as a strategic power in the Pacific Theatre. So they knew what the Japanese was trying to do. -
