    Duplessis and  La Grande Noirceur
    in 1933 the Union Nationale was elected to rule Quebec and its leader was Premier Maurice Duplessis. This lead Quebec into an era called La Grande Noirceur. This era gave birth to french nationalism. Quebeckers were in awe for their leader for he appeared to be fighting for them. However, there was great corruption going on. Duplessis decided to increase power to the church when it came to education. This caused Quebec to be very religuous

    The Richard Riots is when a famous French hockey play named Maurice Richard was suspended for the season because he had a scuffle with a player and hit the linesman. This made french furious because they thought it was because he was French. This was the first of many protests for nationalism and equality from the french.

    The Quiet Revolution occurred after Duplessis death. The Union Nationale lost power and the Liberal Provincial Government came to power being lead by Jean Lesage. Many changes came to Quebec. The church lost its power and control over the schools returned to the government. The government also improved social and economic standards of Quebeckers by getting rid of corruption.This Revolution unfortanitly also gave brith to sepretisim.
