    After the Portuguese arrived in India They realized the importance of the city of Malacca so they sent an expedition to the city that was captured and taken prisoner. Afonso de Albuquerque made a plan to send an expedition to take and capture the city. When the expedition got there they attacked as soon as they could and gained control of the bridge that divided the town. The gain of this city gave the Portugese control the main trade routes of India.
