Homestead Act
Encourage many immigrants to come to America. This act allowed settlers 160 acres of land by paying a small fee, and by staying for five continuous years before becoming a land owner. -
The 14th Amendment
Any American born was granted citizenship regardless of their parents citizenship, ethnicity, and origin of birth. -
