The Declaration of Independence is the document that Declared America the USA. This means all the colonies were United as one and declare its independence from Britain. -
The First Fleet Arrives at Botany Bay
The First Fleet left England on the 13th of May 1787 and arrived at Botany Bay on the 20th of January 1788. Over the period between 1788 and 1850 over 162,000 convicts were transported to Australia in over 806 boats. The first 11 boats with the convicts and men are ackknowledged as the Founders of Australia. -
First Passenger Railway
George Stephenson was an inventor during the 19th century. He worked on Steam Locomotives. He designed the first passenger train from Liverpool to Manchester. -
Gold Rush Starts
The Australian Gold Rush started in 1851. It bought alot of migrants to the country believing they would make there fortune. -

The Eureka Stockade
On the 3rd of December there was an all out clash between the Miners and the Police men. This occured because the miners thought that the rule that you could'nt claim the land they worked on and also, they had to carry a license or face fines. Peter Lalor lead the Miners. 125 miners were taken prisoner and many were badly wounded. -
Ned Kelly Hung
Ned Kelly was sentenced to death in Melbourne after commiting many crimes in Outback Victoria including armed robberies and sieges. He is well known for his special armour. He was held in the Melbourne Gaol and on the 11th of November was hung. -
The Boer War
Australia was in the boer war fighting for England against the Boer Settlers in South Africa. The war lasted a few years. It was listed the 3rd worst War in terms of casualties in Australia. -
Australian Federation
On the 1st of January 1901, Britain allowed the 6 colonies of Australia to govern in their own right to make the commonwealth of Australia. -
Titanic Sinks
The Titanic was the biggest boat ever designed and built. It left for sea on the 10th of April 1912 from Southampton, leaving for New York. It clashed into an iceberg on the night of the 14th of April 1912.1522 passengers passed away. -
World War 1 Starts
On the 4th of August 1914 World War 1 began. The Australian army contributed around 50 000 men. The War ended in 1918. -
Nelson Mandela Born
Nelson Mandela, one of the most influential men in the world, was born. He went on to spend many many years in gaol. When he was released he soon became the leader of South Africa.
