RATING: 3.2, because it had some good parts but most of the scenes were boring. -

EVENT: Solomon was not only forced into slavery, but was also forced to go by a different name (Platt.)
FACT CHECK: Solomon was unfamiliar with his slave name so he just sat there when his name was called.
CONNECTION: This incident is similar to Tobi's situation. Tobi was beaten and had to go by his slave name, Kunta Kinte

FACT CHECK: In order for the bill to pass, the House would have to make its final decision. For the amendment to go through, it needed a 2/3 vote from both the house and senate.
CONNECTION: The most recent voting in the House was on November 8, 2016, to elect representatives for all 435 congressional districts.
RATE: **** I rate it a 4 out of 5 stars. It was interesting to watch a movie on something verbally told to me once before. -
The Grapes of Wrath

FACT CHECK: Many families were heading west to start a new life during the great depression.
CONNECTION: Families still seek out to new states looking for a better life.
RATING: I rate this movie ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ´s because, I started the movie kind of late so it was hard to follow. -
Avalon
EVENT: The shop burned down
FACT CHECK: There was an electric problem on the fourth floor that caused the fire.
CONNECTION: July 4th is the same day Sam Krichinsky arrived in Baltimore.
RATE: I rate this movie a 3 out of 5 because it was interesting but I missed day 2 so I didn´t understand much. -
Red Tails
EVENT: When lightning saved Easy´s life during a mission.
FACT CHECK: The plane was headed towards Easy and lightning got in front of him and shot the plane down.
CONNECTION: Many people make a commitment to sacrifice their life when being recruited.

Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom
EVENT: Individuals protested for their rights by walking and singing in a huge group.
FACT CHECK: Mandela was arrested for the protest after ran onto in all-white bus and sat down.
CONNECTION: People still protest, for example, the black lives matter protest.
RATE: I give this move a rating of ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐´s. I enjoyed the visuals and was taught more on what was happening in Africa. -
Lee Daniels´ Butler
EVENT: Louis and other freedom riders get on a bus to protest against discrimination in interstate travel.
FACT CHECK: The freedom riders bus was attacked and fired bomb by the Ku Klux Klan in Alabama.
CONNECTION: This connects with Rosa Parks protesting her right to sit at front of the bus.
RATE: I rate this movie ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐´s. It gives a nice informed background throughout history. -
Selma
EVENT: Priest Reeb was beaten to death the night of the second march.
FACT CHECK: He was a caucasian male supporting the march for blacks rights.
CONNECTION: There´s racism still going on today and some white people get upset at others opposing opinions, same as they did in Selma.
RATE: I rate Selma ⭐ ⭐ ⭐´s because I was able to visualize what was already taught and because I missed the second day of film and lots of events happened that day. -
Rescue Dawn
EVENT: Dieter plane had gotten shot down over Loas, surviving the crash, but was later captured.
FACT CHECK: Dieter ended up in shacks being tortured and malnourished.
CONNECTION: Relates to when Bob Hoover who was captured during World War ll as a test pilot.. he also escaped.
RATE: I rate this movie ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐´s because it was interesting and kept me engaged. -
Forest Gump
EVENT: Lieutenant Dan invests in Apple Inc.
FACT CHECK: Towards the end of the movie, Forest says hoq L. Dan Apple company succeeded
CONNECTION: Apple's net worth from 2006-2019 is 969.17B.
RATE: ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐´s, the movie kept me engaged the entire time. -
The Lost Battalion
EVENT: During the war, we fired canons thinking we were hitting the opposers but we were performing friendly fire.
FACT CHECK: A soldier had to run to tell them to stop because every canon fired, were killing some of our men.
CONNECTION: There were friendly fires in the American War.
RATE: I give this movie a rating of ⭐ ⭐´s. I was only in attendance for the last day of the movie so I couldn´t really follow. -
