Young Douglass
Fredrick Douglass started reading when he joined the Auld family. He was 8 years when the mom started teaching him but she stopped teaching because of her husband. Douglass continued to learn from newspapers and other ways. -
Escape of Douglass
This was the day Fredrick Douglass escaped from slavery. He was 20 years old and was escaping from baltimore, Maryland. -
start of Douglass career
At the age of 23, Douglass was a important guest at the Massachusetts anti-slavery society convention. This got him a spot as a speaker for the society. -

Douglass worldwide tour
When he became one of the speakers of the anti-slavery society, he joined a tour. The tour took him to Ireland and Britain and was with Garrison. They would talk about slavery and how bad it was. -
Douglass's newspaper
Douglass was funded by his irish friends which he used to make newspapers. Frederick Douglass called it the North Star and had a motto that said “ Right is of no Sex – Truth is of no Color – God is the Father of us all, and we are all brethren.” -
Other Things Douglass Supported
Douglass supported women rights too and spoke in favor for their rights. He also went to a convention in Seneca where he was the only african american their and never argued against their rights. -
Douglass vs Garrison
Douglass used to look up too Garrison but now Douglass became more of an independent thinker and doesn't agree with him anymore. Like how they disagree on if the constitution is pro-slavery or not because garrison thinks it is but Douglass doesn't. This lead to more debates. -

Douglass made two more autobiographies in 1855 and 1881 but the second one called My bondage and my freedom was an interesting book.This book was about his transition from a slave to a free man. This gave a insight to white people about what happen to african-americans when they became free. -
After civil war
Frederick Douglass became a US Marshall for the district of Columbia. This was the first african american to get this job. This helped Douglass be able to talk to lincoln easier to help people's rights.
