King George is Crowned
This is the beginning of his 59 year reign. He was rushed into office when he was only 22. He was put into the throne because his grandfather died. -
French and Indian war
The French and Indian war was fought over land. The Native Americans and the French teamed up to fight against King George. This was the Kings first major war. Britain won this

Tea Act
King George refused to repeal the tea act. This started the American rebellion. By doing this he turned the colonies against him. -
Boston Massacre
This was a fight between colonists and British soldiers. Some people died and the colonists made it into propoganda. Some people in Britain felt bad for the Americans and some thought it was blown out of proportion. King George responded to it negatively. -
Boston Tea Party
Some men dressed as Native Americans got onto a ship and dumped several tons of tea into the Boston Harbor. They where protesting the several taxes. The king responded with more taxes and a stricter rule. -
The American Revolution Starts
The American Revolution starts. The king is forced to fight his own colonies. The colonies declared their independence from Britain and started their own nation. -
Treaty of Paris
This is the treaty that ended the war. The colonists where able to win the war. The treaty forced Britain to recognize America as independent and it made them draw borders. -
Mental illness
The King was put into a straight jacket. He had been so unsettled by the loss of the war that he developed a mental illness. He attacked someone as a result of the illness. -
Regency Act of 1811
This act was passed in the British parliament in 1811. King George was no longer able to do his job due to his mental illness. He was declared clinically insane and his son had to fill in for him. -
George's wife dies
In 1818 the Kings wife dies. The King and his wife produced 16 children and where married for 57 years. She was the one who took care of him while he was mentally ill after the war. -
