Hundreds of british troops marched from Boston to concord to take their guns. Paul and several others sounded the alarm so the milita men could get ready. -
The Battle of Lexington and Concord
The local militiamen and the British redcoats fought, this started the revolutionary war. -
The formation of the Continental Army
The Second Continental Congress including Franklin, and Jefferson voted to start the Continental Army, their commander being George Washington. -
The Battle of Bunker Hill
This was the Army's first major battle, though it ended in british victory, it encouraged them to keep fighting for the cause. -
The adoption of the Declaration of Independence
On July 4th, the congress voted to adopt a declaration of Independence. -
The Battle of Yorktown
The Americans won this battle, and the British removed their troops from Charleston and Savannah. This pointed to the end of the conflict. -

The British recognize the independence of the US in the Treaty of Paris.
