It began after the stock market crash of october 1929, which sent wall street into a panic and wiped out millions of investors.This event was very significant to Canada because the great depression left lots of canadians hungry and often at times homeless. I feel it it is also very siginificant because with out food and homes people would die. -

On August 14, 1945, Japan had surrendered unconditionally to the Allies, effectively ending World War II. Since then, both August 14 and August 15 have been known as “Victoryover Japan Day,” or simply “V-J Day.” The term has been used for September 2, 1945, when Japan’s surrender took place aboard the U.S.S. Missouri, anchored in Tokyo Bay.
