Compromise of 1850

Made boundaries between New Mexico and Texas and it made it easier for slaveowners to recover runaway slaves. It happened in the US. Uncle Tom's Cabin is a book about Uncle Tom as a slave. Stephen Douglas, Franklin Pierce was involved. This Act would let the settlers of a teritory decide whether they wanted slavery to be alllowed within a new state's borders. It took place in the US and involved the New states. It took place, because Stephen Douglas came up with this idea and wanted to be enforced. This helped lead to the formation of the Republican party. -
Dred Scott Case
Dred Scott, his wife, his 2 children. He was a slave and he wanted freedom. The case went through several courts and it reached the US. Supreme court and he failed. He lived in Wisconsin when this happened. This event took place, because Dred Scott and his family wanted freedom. This event was a stepping stone to the Civil War. -

Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas were involved. Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas had a debate over the slavery issue and Douglas won. This event took place in Illinois. This event took place, because of slavery. This event lead one step closer to the Civil War. -
John Brown’s Raid
John Brown and his sons. John hated slavery and he wanted to arm the Southern slaves and lead a rebellion. The arsenal was poorly defended, but when they break in not a single slave joins Brown. They were trapped. Only John escaped and his sons died. This event took place in the federal arsenal. This event took place, because John Brown and his sons wanted to light the fuse. This event made a huge step forward the Civil War. -

This event involved all of the people living in the US. Abraham Lincoln got elected. Weeks after Lincoln's inaguration the Confederate Army fired on Fort Sumter and started the civil war.
