In 1712 Sorth Carolina passed their salve code which was a set of laws for the slaves living in Sorth Carolina. -
Louisiana Slave Code
The Louisiana slave code was written in 1724 only a few years after the South Carolina slave code. -
Georgia Slave Code
In 1770 Georgia adopted South Carolina's slave code and used it as their own. -
MIssouri Compromise
The Missouri Compromise introduced free states into the country such as Maine and anything above the Louisiana Territory. -

The Alabama slave code was written in 1833 -
Fugitive Slave Act
The Fugitive Slave Act prohibited anyone from concealing slaves that ran away to the North and calling them "free". -
California admitted as free state
California admitted as a free state as part of the Compromise of 1850. -
