Abraham Lincoln was the 16th President of the United States and a Republican. Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipatio Proclamation to free the slaves after a victory at Antietum. Many historians say Lincoln led the North to victory in the Civil War. Lincoln also kept the Union toether during the war. On April 14, 1865 President Lincoln was assassinated. -

Andrew Johnson was the 17th president of the United States and a Republican. Adrew Johnson was the vice president of Abraham Lincoln. When President Lincoln was assassinate on April 14,1865 Johnson took his place. Johnson asured his people that this would be a smooth transition and that Lincoln's death would be avenged. -

Ulysses S. Grant was the 18th president of the United States and a republican. Ulysses S. Grant was inagurated in the secong haly of the Civil War. He succssfully won with the surrender of Robert. E Lee. Not only did Grant win the war but he also destroyes the Ku Klux Klan in 1871. When the Republican Party split Grant still held strong and in a land slide Grant was reelected. -
Rutherford B. Hayes
Rutherford B. Hayes was the 19th president of the United States and a republican. Rutherford B. Hayes was inagurated on March 3, 1877 because March 4, fell on a sunday that year. Hayes' first real order of business was the end of reconstruction. Hayes also vetoed the Force Acts. These acts aimed to not forbid someone to vote because of their race. -
Chester A. Arthur
Chester A. Arthur was the 21st president of the United States and a republican. After the assassination of James A. Garfield, Chester A. Arthur took his place. Arthur was criticized by the people because of his management of the budget after the American Civil War. When Arthur became prsident some northern people also opposed him because of his republican party views. -
Benjamin Harrison
Benjamin Harrison was the 23rd president of the United States and a republican. Democrates wished to lower Tariffs and disagrreed with Mckinleys raise on Tariffs. Harrison tried helping the problem by asking to be granted the power to lower or raise Tariffs. This was later denied by congress. -
Grover Cleveland
Grover Cleveland was the 22nd and 24th president of the United States and a democrat. Cleveland is the only president to serve in non consecutive years. In Clevelands second term the Panic of 1893 occured. In result the Democratic Party was ruined and this led a clear path for the republicans to devower in the next years election. -
William McKinley
William McKinley was the 25th president of the United States and a republican. McKinley signed the Digley Tariff Law that raised Tariffs. In result of the Tariffs being raised new imported foreign goods were shipped in. Democrates opposed these foreign goods while republicans generally favored them. -
Theodore Roosevelt
Theodore Roosevelt was the 26th president of the United States and a republican. Theodore Roosevelt was a very big fan of nature. To protect his love he establishes the "National Forest Service" and creates Reclamation sites to preserve land. Roosevelt also signed the "Meat Inspection Act" and the "Pure Food and Drug Act". These acts secured ay doubt that Americans were consuming any harmful foods. -
Woodrow Wilson
Woodrow Wilson was the 28th president of the United States and he was a democrat. Wilsonwas the first southerner and second democrat in office. Wilson appointed democrats into political positions quickly. Wilson won success by his "New Freedom" pledges.
