This writing style imerged near Sumer. It was used by making undried clay slabs and using reeds to scratch pictographs into it. -

Papyrus
Papyrus was a very important type of paper used by the Egyptians for writing. It was created from pith of a Cyperus Papyrus plant. For ink the Egyptians would crush up berries. Sharpened wood was used to write on it. -

Stylus
1300bc Romans invented wax sheets and used metal stylus's to inscribe. If they didn't need certain letters they would just use the other end of the stylus to rub the words out. -
Pencil
The first complete pencil was made from a mixture of graphite and clay that was fired in a kiln. It was invented near Australia and France. -
Quill
A writing utensil made from the flight feather of a bird. Goose feathers are the most commonly used. They were made because it created different strokes in letters and was very easy to use. -
Metal Pen Point
Steel pens came into use first. By the 19th century they replaced quill pens. By 1850 quill pen usage faded so they improved the pen. -
Fountain Pen
Lewis Waterman invented the first practical fountain pen. Since before the other fountain pens had various spills and inconveniences. -
Ball Point Pen
The ball point pen was sold commercially creating a mass production for the esy to use pen. -
Modern Ball Point Pen
The more modern pen was invented by Joseph and George. The rights to the patent of the pen were sold to the British Government. -
Pen Manufacture
The first inexpensive pen was available when Bich developed a process to make the faster and cheaper. -
Felt-Tipped Pen
Otherwise know as a fibre pen. This pen helped lead the way to inventing highlighters which we use today. -
Rollar Ball Pens
It was created to enable the writer to have a smoother ink line when writing. Since then the design has only improved. -
Ring Pen
From 1997 on the Ring Pen has been invented to write without having to use 3 fingers.
