     First World Cup in Uruguay
    Jules Rimet, president of FIFA, set about organizing the inaugural World Cup tournament , naming Uruguay as host . He was invited to the national associations of selected countries to send a team, but the choice of Uruguay as a venue for the competition meant a long and costly trip across the Atlantic Ocean for European sides.
    In the final, Uruguay defeated Argentina by 2.4 before a crowd of 93,000 characters in Montevideo, and became the first nation to win a World Cup.

    The 1934 World Cup was hosted by Italy, and was the first to include a qualification phase. The number of teams was 16, a number that remained until the expansion of the World Cup in 1982. Italy won the tournament, becoming the first European team to do so.

    The 1938 World Cup was held in Europe again, this time in France. This led to Uruguay and Argentina intentasen boycott it. For the first time the champion and the host team qualified automatically. For the first time the host team did not win the title, and this time Italy would be imposed on Hungary in the final.

  • World Cup in Brazil

    The 1950 World Championship in Brazil was the first to include British participants. British teams withdrew from FIFA in 1920, partly because of unwillingness to play against the countries which had been at war, and partly as a protest against foreign influence on football. Uruguay were the surprising winners of the world, to Brazil, with a final score of 2-1, and staged some of the most important and memorable events of the world, " the maracanazo " before more than 200,000 spectators.

    The 1954 World Cup held in Switzerland, was the first to be televised. The Soviet Union did not participate due to his dismal performance in the 1952 Summer Olympics. West Germany was the winning team of the tournament, defeating Olympic champions Hungary 3-2 in the final, turning to a score against 2-0. The party is known as the Miracle of Berne in Germany.

    Chile hosted the World Cup 1962. Before the start of the tournament, a massive earthquake struck the country, taking the authorities to begin a process of reconstruction of great significance, because of the serious damage inflicted on the infrastructure. Brazil beat Czechoslovakia in the final in what was their second consecutive World Cup; the result was 3-1. The team was led by Garrincha and Amarildo , in the absence of Pele, and retained the Jules Rimet trophy.
