    The ancient region of Vietnam had many *Diverse languages and ethnicities, having been exposed to many other cultures. Many would practice *Ancestor worship ( belief that ancestors will provide protection and guidance in society) people would also practice *Shamanism ( a group who believes some people can communicate with spirits) there were Four major language groups Austroasiatic, Austronesian, Tibeto-Burman, and Tai-Kada are all spoken in the region.

    The Chinese empire invaded Nam Veit in 207 BCE Spreading religion and language to Its people. The Chinese people invaded Nam Veit looking to expand their empire and had rule over Vietnam for over 1000 years at that time Vietnamese people were forced to adopt many Chinese traditions religions and customs. Many people were forced to follow the rules of the *Buddhist philosophy making it one of the main religions there even today. Citizens had to understand the Chinese language but not speak it.

    The French invaded Vietnam in the 1800s looking to control more territory in Asia, and this impacted their religion. The decision to invade Vietnam was made by None other than *Napoleon (french general). They said they were there to spread religion but they just wanted more territory and resources. In their time there they created colonies with Christian religions. They built a huge cathedral for Vietnamese people to practice *catholicism (sect), to this day Christianity is a leading Religion.

    America Invaded Vietnam in the 1960s spreading Language. on March 8 1965 America invaded Vietnam to prevent the spread of *communism (idea to keep order in classes in-country). After the war, the Vietnamese government decided to adopt the English language realizing that they needed to build up their civilization again. In order to do that they needed to trade and the standard language in international business is English so they started teaching English across Vietnam.

    Today there are different
    ethnicities and languages in the region of southeast Asia but more specifically Vietnam. Today most of the population speaks *Vietnamese, but there are some other languages spoken in small groups like English. The main religion is *Buddism ( way of life founded by Sadartha Gatahma) over 15 percent of the Vietnamese people are Buddhists and the rest are spread out in religions like Hindu, atheists,m, and the largest of the small groups Christians.
