Starting in the 80's, the golden age of video games and begun. Games like donkey kong, pac man, and Galaga were out and people were flocking to arcades and Ataris. -

The video game industry crashed in 1983, mostly to overnourishment and the E.T. game. Video games probably would have been out for good, if it wasn't for the NES. -
SNES and handheld gaming (game boy)
In the late 80'S, the video game industry was saved by handheld gaming, primarily by the SNES and game boy. This returned the industry back to relevancy, and would set up the first console war. -
The First Console War (SEGA vs Nintendo)
During the 90's, the two video game giants battled it out: SEGA and Nintendo, with sonic and Mario respectively. Nintendo would ultimately win when the SEGA dreamcast flopped. -

Modern Gaming
Now, gaming has continued to improve, with greater graphics and more fun games. Now, the second console war has begun. This time, the two giants are Xbox, and Playstation, with Nintendo not so far behind.
