The first video game console called “Magnavox Odyssey” is released and sold for $100.

Atari releases its first game called Pong which is the first commercial video game.

Space Invaders is created and released in Japan and later in North America. By the end of 1978 more than 100,000 machines were sold and installed in Japan.

Namco releases Pac-Man in Japan. By the 1990’s it generated $2.5 billion in revenue and has had 30 licensed spin offs. It’s considered the highest revenue generating video game of all time.
