Spacewars debut
In 1962 Steve Russel creates a videogame named Space wars. This game was a hit and spread to computers across the world. Not only this but it inspired more game creations and helped show the potential of video games. -
The odyssey
In Ralph Baer creates the first home gaming system. This was done through an interactive television game named the Odyssey. Though not a traditional gaming console this started the home gaming industry regardless. -
The Oregon trail (Dysentery Simulator)
in 1971 two Minnesota college students programmed a video game named Oregon trail. This was originally played on a teletype machine. However the innesota Educational Computer Consortium soon made it International. It has grown into a cult classic ever since. -
Pong
In 1972 the Pong arcade cabinet was made and tested in Sunny Vale California. The machine broke because it was too popular and people jammed it with the sheer amount of quarters. This boosted arcade popularity and more arcade cabinets were soom to follow in its wake. -
Pac Man
In 1980 the hit game Pac man was created. Not only was it a hit among the populace but it was also successful enough to earn an Atari port. This makes Pac man the first arcade game to get a port to a home console. Also fun fact; it was inspired by a missing slice of pizza -
Mario time
In 1981 Nintendo releases Donkey Kong, where a soon to be famous character makes his debut. This character's name was Jump-man, but soon was changed to the Italian plumber we all know and love, Mario. This was one of Nintendo major successes that helped make it the software giant it is today. -
The game boy
The game boy was the handheld game console that started the whole portable gaming industry. Millions upon millions of kids owned this tiny computer which helped jumpstart the mobile gaming craze. Not only this but This also helped Nintendo become even more popular than it already was. -
Mortal Kombat
Mortal kombat was a popular video game in the 90's (Also the only game my dad would play with me) That was so gory at the time that parents were outraged. This prompted the ESRB rating system to help regulate video game violence exposure to children. 'course it didnt stop much but it helped ease a parents worries about video games. -
XBOX
The xbox was released, Microsoft's first home console and their debut in the gaming industry. Not only was this console revolutionary in the context of graphics and proccessing power, but it is also the home to one of the most popular gaming franchises to date; Halo.
No doubt the XBOX is one of the video gae milestones.
