    "Link"In 1418 an Italian engineer named Giovanni de la Fonta created a human powered device consisting of four wheels and a loop of rope connected by gears. The hobby horse (bicycle) was not used as transportation like it is today. The hobby horse was built to solve serious problems like a lack of horses. Bad harvests and a series of natural disasters occurring in the early 1810s resulted in mass starvation and the killing of thousands of horses, so it was used as an alternative for transportation.

    "Link"We don't exactly know when the first wheeled chairs were invented and used for disabled people. Wheeled chairs may have entered Europe around the 12th century, along with the wheelbarrow. The first recorded use of self-propelled chairs by disabled people in Europe dates to the 17th century. German inventor Johann Hautsch made several rolling chairs in Nürnberg, and about 1655 disabled German man Stephan Farfler made a three-wheeled chair that he could propel with his arms.

    According to the passage, an instrument maker and mechanic named Josef Merlin was invited to a party in London. He wanted to make a grand entrance like ice skating into the party but since you can only enjoy ice skating in cold weather he came up with his own design. He used the design of a bike-one wheel in the front, and one in the back. On his way in the party in his new skates, he found a flaw in the design. He had no way to stop moving, so he crashed into a large mirror.

The passengers was a sheep a duck and a rooster, and the balloon stayed in the air for a grand total of 15 minutes before crashing back to the ground. The first manned attempt was about 2 months later by two french brothers, Joseph and Etienne Montgolfier.The balloon was released in the centre of paris and flew for about 20 minutes. over 100 years later, In August of 1932, scientist Auguste Piccard was the first man to reach the Stratosphere.

    "Link"The first stage coach was built in 1827, and costed about $1200-$1500 each coach weighing more than two thousand pounds. Each coach was given a number from the Abbot-Downing factory. The Concord Coaches were known for being sturdy, roomy, and comfortable. At the front and back of the stage coach were leather 'boots' where baggage, mail and money were stored during the journey, with the rest of the luggage being put on top of the coach. Sometimes, even passengers sat atop the coach.

    "Link"Carl Benz developed the first stationary gasoline engine, which ran for the first time on New Years Eve in 1879. The major additions of the two seater vehicle (completed in 1885) was its high-speed single-cylinder four-stroke engine installed in the back of the car, which put out .55kW. Carl Benz applied for a patent on January 29, 1886. Now reffered to as the birth certificate of the automobile.

    "Link"Motorcycles are descended from the "safety" bicycle, bicycles with front and rear wheels of the same size, with a pedal crank mechanism to drive the rear wheel. Gottlieb Daimler is credited for building the first motorcycle in 1885. It was mostly made of wood, with the wheels being of the iron-banded wooden-spoked wagon-type. It was powered by a single-cylinder Otto-cycle engine, and may have had a spray-type carburetor.

    "Link"The first boat to sail around the world was Spray. The captain of the boat was Joshua Slucum. Born in Nova Scotia in 1844, Joshua left home for the water at age 16. In 1892 he decided to build his own boat and sail her around the world alone. The result was the 37-foot sloop, Spray and one of the greatest adventures ever told. Slocums journey began on April 24, 1895 at the age of 51 yrs old. Over three years later he and the Spray returned on June 27, 1898 completing a journey of 46,000 miles

    "Link"The first zeppelin was designed by Ferdinand, Graf von Zeppelin hence the name zeppelin. The zepelinis a rigid airship of a type originally manufactured by Luftschiffsbau-Zeppelin and consisting of a cigar-shaped, trussed, and covered frame supported by internal gas cells. It made its initial flight from a floating hangar on Lake Constance, near Friedrichshafen, Germany, on July 2, 1900. During World War 1 the Germans achieved moderate success in bombing operations with the zeppelin.

    "Link"The first airplane (called the Flyer) was created by the Wright brothers, Wilbur and Oliver Wright. The design came from their gilder that had some success, but couldn't fly for long periods of time. The Flyer's right wing was four inches longer than the left to compensate for the engine being heavier and mounted to the right of the pilot. The wings were rigged with a slight droop to reduce the effects of crosswind. The Wright brothers first successful flight was Dec. 7, 1903.

    On September 14, 1939, the VS-300, the world’s first practical helicopter, took flight at Stratford, Connecticut. Igor Sikorsky designed the VS-300, and was constructed by the Vought-Sikorsky Aircraft Division of the United Aircraft Corporation. On September 14th Sikorsky flew the VS-300 but it only lasted a few seconds.The first free flight was on May 13, 1940.

    "Link"Skateboarding was first introduced in the 1950s by a group of California surfers came up with the idea to surf on the streets. The first skateboards started with wooden boxes or boards with roller skate wheels slapped on the bottom. Over time the boxes turned into planks, and companies were producing decks of pressed layers of wood. Similar to the skateboard decks of today.

The train was designed solely for conveying customers on a common style of purpose built trains. The 80$ million loan from the World Bank barely covered the costs for engineering and construction. It uses 15% less energy and travels up to 150 mph more than a frieght train.

    "Link"The Razor scooter is a foldable scooter invented by the J.D. Corporation, which also sells aluminum bicycle parts and electric scooters in Shanghai, Taiwan. The Razor Scooter took 5 years to design under Gino Tsai, the then 44 year-old Taiwanese president of J.D. Corporation. Gino Tsai claims that his legs were too short, and his walking speed always seemed too slow to get around his large bicycle factory in Chang Hua, Taiwan.
