    World War One was the war to end all wars. In the early days of the war is was well known for its revolutionary weapon designs. Things such as the gasses used and poor living conditions are a large part of why the Spanish flu killed the soldiers so easily. During the end of the war it turned from the war being about fighting to just suviving in the trenches without cetching the virus.

    during the whole pandemic there was most deaths then the world war or the black plague. The numbers of people that had the disease at one point in the 2 years was higher then the people in the world that didn't.
  • Fort Riley

    Fort Riley
    The most acurate origin of the Influenza virus was said to be from Frot Riley. Because of its dust stoms that year and the large pile up of animal waste the living conditions around the Fort that year were stressfully poor. This led to a new mutated version of the normal Flu that would hit that grew into what was called the Spanish Flu outbreak of 1918. From the first day it arived there was already 100 men with the disease, and 500 by the end of the week.

    Flu Reaches Spain
    In late May the virus officially reached Spain and was reported in Madrid's ABC news paper saying ot came to them from France through railroad travels. Spain was the hardest hit coutry with the flu and was thought to be the origin because they had a higher percent sick then anywhere else. About 80% of there population was said to have the virus at one point in time.

    One of the next large US break outs after the Fork Riley insedent was in the horbor of Boston. When sailors started rushing into the Sick-bay there was a large amount of people with unusual symptoms. By the 30th of the month there were over 60 sailors sick.

    Dr. Taubenberger Was moved to a new station (Camp Devens) where he would soon find a life changing problem. He found that a small virus that hit the area he was moved to was now a large issue spreading like fire. As he worked through dead after death he became familiar with the disease and was known for settle a strong base on the knowledge about the Spanish Flu.

    The Surgeon general of the US army was one of the first to see the full power that the virus had. He was taking care of the deaths from the war when out of nowhere he had hundreds of bodies coming in from illness. He saw that it was not just a normal disease and was one of the first to pin the threat it really had in the early phases of the pandemic.
  • Philadelphia

    The city was known for their high population and size all around the world. As time went by even the virus had hear of the town and as it moved in it hit at one of its hardest levels around the whole world. Known as the hardest hit location to the virus Philadelphia’s population was more then halved in just weeks.
  • October

    In just the month of October on the year 1918 the amount of deaths caused by the Virus was off the chart. At its peek of power it killed 47% of the total losses in Spain in the two years of the flu in just 30 days. All around the wolrd people fell to the disease faster then during the Black plague.
  • Boston is Hit again

    In late December the Large American town of Boston was hit by another wave of deaths when over 450 people died is a single day! this was one of the last large hits in the world for this virus and after this is slowly lowered in power until the next year was over.
  • Swine Flu

    After almost 100 years another large and more powerfull flu hits the world, but with the large increases from modern medicine and higher knoledge of what was happening it was supressed and a repeat of 1918-1920 was prevented.
