George Washington
George Washington was born in Westmoreland County, Virginia on February 22, 1732. He was, of course, the first president of the United States. He served from 1789-1797, refusing to run for a third term - setting up the custom for years to come. He also served in the Revolutionary War, and was married to Martha Washington. -Fought in the Revolutionary War at just 13. Was a courier - carried messages back and forth from soldiers to leaders.
-Educated himself in law as a teenager. Served as lawyer, House of Representatives and a Supreme Court Judge.
-Fought in the War of 1812. Was a general, and helped to win the Battle of New Orleans.
-He runs for president. Adams beats him. Runs again against Adams. He wins!

-Was born in New York in 1882.
-Attended Harvard University in 1900. He doesn't graduate law school, but passes the test to become a lawyer.
-Marries Eleanor Roosevelt, his 5th cousin, and has 6 children with her.
-In 1921, becomes paralyzed in his legs from supposed polio.
-Runs for President in 1932 and wins. President for four more terms.
