The first computers ever
Computers have taken many shapes over the years, but the first programmable computer was invented in 1938 by Konrad Zuse, who built it in his parents' living room. The next development in the life of early computers was the first digital computer, invented in 1942 by Professor John Vincent Atanasoff in Iowa State College (currently Iowa State University). -
The very beginning
The internet started out long ago with the ARPNET, which means Advanced Research Project Agency Network. It was the first system to use TCP/IP protocol suite, which was also used to invent the internet. ARPNET was created with the idea of having an interconnected system that could be used for insanely fast access of information and communication. It was funded by the United States' Department of Defence. -
Personal computers
Before the 1970's computers were not in any person's household, even if they were rich. In the early 70's the introduction of smaller, much more affordable computers began to hit the market, and people and schools could now begin to get there hands on the future. Some of these early computers include the Kenbak-1 in 1971 and the Micral N in 1978. -
Microsoft
Microsoft is a company that develops and sells computers, computer software, and other technology based products. It was created by Bill Gates and Paul Allen, who are currently among the richest people on the planet. -
Apple
Apple Inc. is company similar to Microsoft and has been a main competitor to them over the years. It also develops and sells personal computers, smartphones, and other gadgets and software. -
Windows
Windows is a group of operating system families developed and sold by Microsoft. Windows has been very important and popular to computer users past and present and dominates the market in computer software. -
The next step
NSFNET, or the National Science Foundation Network, was the next step in the development of computers and the internet. It was created promote advanced research and education networking in the USA. -
The World Wide Web
The World Wide Web, or sometimes referred to as the web, is a system used to collect and sort information for easy access through the internet. It was originally invented in 1989 by Tim Berners-Lee but was fully released to the world in 1991. -
The First Internet Browser
NCSA Mosaic, or just Mosaic, was the first internet web browser and was released in 1993. It was a very crucial element when it came to popularizing the internet and making it what it is today. -
Google
Google is currently one of the most valuable brands on earth. It is a technology company that specializes in making search engines. Being released in 1994, Google became popular because it was ran by Microsoft, the most powerful computer company. Google is very important to the internet because it is the internet and is the most popular search engines for it. -
Social Media
Social media is a very important part of many people's lives today, as they often spend hours browsing through it. Although there are dozens of popular social media apps, the first one ever was something called Six Degrees, which lasted from 1997 to 2001. -
Wikipedia
Wikipedia is a web based, free encyclopedia that is available in 303 different languages. It was launched by Jimmy Wales and Larry Sanger. The unique about it is that any person can edit what is said on one of Wikipedia's 40 million articles. -
Safari
Safari is a web browser developed by Apple based on the internet engine WebKit. It was first used first on Mac OS X Panther, then later used in iPhones and other mobile devices. -
Facebook
Facebook is another form of social media that became popular in the 2000's and early 2010's. Although not as used nowadays, it was at one point the most used social media app and one of the top internet searches. -
Youtube
YouTube is an American based video sharing platform which was released by five friends in 2005. It is currently one of the most popular social media apps, as it 1.8 billion monthly users and 46 000 years worth of video uploaded. -
The internet today
In less than 50 years, humans have completed evolved their technology so much that we can now access so much information with just the push of a few keys.
