A man called Micheal Burge began the story establishing the first Catholic School in Brisbane. -
THEN TO NOW
The Beginning started off with one school, two teachers, and 56 students. Now there are one hundred and thirty-nine schools, eleven thousand staff and seventy thousand students. -
The first church
They built a church in st Stephens to start the success if cathoilc education for people who needed help in their life and so they could pray in their life. -
Boy School
The first boy's school was a unique school that was opened entirely by lay teachers from the area. -
WORLD WAR ONE IMPLICATIONS
In 1914 World War One had big implications on Catholic schools in Brisbane. -

In 1919 Archbishop James Duhig had a visionary with an entrepreneurial spirit could see the growing need for Catholic schooling. -
THE GREAT DEPRESSION
The Great Depression in 1929 to the end of World War Two, The Archbishop saw Australia suffer the challenges of wide spread poverty
and unemployment. -
PEOPLE HELPED STRUGGLING FAMILIES
In 1945 some schools waived their fees to help struggling families, surprisingly no schools were closed. -

In 1960's there was a massive strain for catholic education and were struggling to keep there kids in school -
