Isaac Newton
Isaac Newton was born 25th December 1642 and died 20th March 1727. He tried many discoveries that were similar to Johannes Kepler and the laws he made. He created classic mechanics, which was the beginning of the modern physics. -
Isaac Newton
He made many achievements but one of his greatest is discovering the laws of gravity and movement. Newton formulated the laws of the universal gravitation; he said that it demonstrated the motion of the objects on earth. He worked from Kepler’s laws and removed the last doubts of the heliocentric model. -
John Dalton's Discovery
John Dalton was born in 1700, in Cumberland England and died in 1837. John was a quaker s he could not attend or teach at any English University. He discovered that the point is that matter is not broken down into anything smaller, he discovered that atoms are tiny particles. His discovery changed our views of the atom and its properties because we didnt know that there was three importanat properties they are that the atom is extremely small, indivisble and indestructible. -
Dmitri Mendeleev
He was born 8th February 1834 and died 2nd February 1907 (age 72). He was married but during his divorce he failed to get into the Russian Academy of Sciences. He was the one who created the first version of the periodic table, with all of the elements. He used it to predict the properties of elements that are still to be discovered. There were 56 unknown elements and a new element being discovered. They had one per year and still had to discover more. -
Max Planck's Discovery
Max Planck was born April 23rd 1858 and died October 4th 1947. He was a philosopher of science. In his Scientific Autobiography and Other Papers he had written he though to start up the Planck’s Principle. This view that he made was forwarded by Karl Popper, which is know as the Popper’s Principle. -
Max Planck's Discovery
He discovered an equation that told us the results of the tests. The equation that he made was E=Nhf, with E=energy, N=integer, h=constant, f=frequency. He made up constant (h), which was renamed to the people as “Planck’s constant”. Over years scientists are still figuring the atom out it toke ages. From all of his discoveries and help he got awarded the Nobel Prize in Pysics 1918. -
Niels Bohr's Discovery
He did not discover the protons, neutrons or electrons but he used energy changes in line emission spectra to make a model that was considered for the discrete energy changes that happen. His model was of a hydrogen atom, which showed the jumps that electrons could make when the releases energy and when they absorbed it. -
Niels Bohr's Discovery
Niels Bohr was born 7 October 1885and died on the 18 November 1962. Niels Bohr made conversation with some physicists and then predicted the existence of a zirconium. Also during this time he conceived the principle of complementarity and said that items could be separately analysed by having contradictory properties. He discovered from some other scientists that the wave-lengths are in the UV spectrum of hydrogen. -
James Chadwick's Discovery
Chadwick started the radiation experiments and used helium nuclei, which is electrically charged. The electrical forces make the atoms heavier. Neutrons are stabilized by the protons in the atoms nucleus. The nucleus is pack tight with the positively charged protons. -
James Chadwick's Discovery
James was born on 20th October 1891and died on July 24th 1974. From Rutherford’s discovery Chadwick helped answer the questions from identifying the neutron. Then Chadwick made an experiment to answer all the questions about the unknown nucleus mass source. He discovered neurons and how they work and how they get attached to things. -
Joesph John Thomson Discovery
..The experiments he did showed that inside an atom is very small and full of negative charged particles, they are called electrons. Joseph John Thomson found atoms can be broken down into smaller particles and Dalton said that they cannot which was -
Joesph John Thomson Discovery
Joesph John Thomson is born on the 18th Of December 1856 in Cheetham Hill and died on August the 30th 1940. He worked more closer in the chemical community of scientists rather than mathematical. In the same year also published writings telling chemist to also use more chemical than mathematical in their analyses. For all his great work and teachings him and his associates got a Nobel Price. He discovered that atoms are divisible and are full of really small particles ... -
Hantaro Nagaoka Discovery
Hantaro Nagaoka was born on the 15 August 1865 and sadly died on the 11 December 1950. His model he made was based around the Saturn rings and how stable they are. After he made his model he made two predictions that it had a very massive nucleus and that the electron are revolving around the nucleus. His model and the predictions were correct and they were confirmed by Rutherford. He discovered that the atom is similar to the saturn rings. -
Ernest Rutherford Discovery
His laboratory experiences showed that alpha particles are fired into gas atoms. Ernest Rutherford made a new theory from his famous gold foil experiment. His theory is very important in the history of the atom.Ernest Rutherford was the first to discover and prove the existence of the nucleus inside the atom. -
Ernest Rutherford Discovery
Ernest Rutherford was born 1871 in Nelson, New Zealand and died 1937 Cambridge. He is the fourth child and second son in a family of 11 siblings. Ernest Rutherford was J. J. Thomson’s first graduate at The Cambridge University. He changed fields and started working on radioactivity, this was just started by Henri Becquerel, Pierre and Marie Curie. Ernest Rutherford discovered that there was a nuclear structure of an atom... -
Ernest Marsden Discovery
His discovery has changed our way of the atom because we know no that if we keep on researching we will get closer to finding out everything we know about atoms. -
Ernest Marsden Discovery..
Ernest Marsden was born 19th February 1889 and he died 15th December 1970. He discovered that the heavier positively charged alpha particles are the ones that pass straight through thin metal foils. They set up another experiment and found that some of the alpha particles were deflected right back. Ernest Marsden worked with some other scientists (Ernest Rutherford) to discover why some alpha particles got deflected back. -
Louis de Broglie
It changed our views by making us understand more about the atomic theory and then when people need to learn about it and teach it they know more than last time. -
Louis de Broglie
Louis de Broglie was brorn on 15th August 1892 and died 19th March 1987. His ideas were basic he was developing the wave mechanics theory. To the atomic theory he has improved our knowledge of the physical nature of the atomic scale. The pictures of his visions are on this website: http://the-history-of-the-atom.wikispaces.com/Louis+de+Broglie. Louis de Broglie discovered that there is a wave of nature of electrons.
