New York trains became the spot to tag. New York in general became covered in in and paint as taggers and graffiti artists took to the streets to make their mark. -
The War on Graffiti
Mayor Lindsay the mayor of New York during the time of this graffiti decided to wage a war. This boom of graffiti caused a boom of crime and the Mayor vowed to remove all the trains with graffiti. They were not to go into circulation until they were cleaned. -

Shepard Fairey the creator of the obey image started by using a simple sticker design and has since moved into large murals and a whole clothing line where he speaks against social and political issues. -

The internet has done something to graffiti that has never been done before. Graffiti is always changing and being taken down with the use of the interent one can see graffiti somewhere else that was only up for a week or two. -

Also known as slaps, sticker art has become insansly popular. With a large growth in Philadelphia and New York small sitcker character cans be seen all around the city and are much like tagging.
