One of the largest skateboarding competitions
In 1975, People had one of the largest skateboarding competitions, called the Del Mar National Championships. It is said to have up to 500 competitors. The competition lasted two days and was sponsored by Bahne Skateboards & Cadillac Wheels -

Street skating became more popular, because the ramps were to expensive, or they didn't have acces to a ramp. -

The boards
In the 1990, they made the boards, a whole lot lighter. The weels were made smaller, and was made of extremely hard polyurethane so it was easier to make tricks. -
