  • Newton's Laws

    Newton's Laws
Newton’s three laws were introduced. First Law: An object in motion must remain in motion unless there is an unbalanced force. Second law: Force equals math times acceleration. Third law: For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.
  • Congreve

    Congreve
Congreve's assault rockets ranged in mass from about 8 to 136 kilograms and consisted of two basic types: the shrapnel (case-shot) rocket and the incendiary rocket.
  • Rescue Rockets

    Rescue Rockets
Englishman Henry Trengrouse introduced the practice of fastening a light cord to a small rocket, then launching the rocket over a ship in distress.
  • The Congreve Rockets

    The Congreve Rockets
    • Made by Colonel William Congreve
    • Were used as rockets in war and battle.
    • Were very sucessful.
  • Konstantin Tsiolkovsky

    Konstantin Tsiolkovsky
    • Proposed the idea of space exploration by rocket.
    • He stated that "the speed and range of a rocket were limited only by the exhaust velocity of escaping gases."
    • Suggested the use of liquid propellants for rockets in order to achieve greater range.
  • Robert H. Goddard

    Robert H. Goddard
He conducted many practical experiments in rocketry. He Thought of ways to get the rockets higher. He puplished, "A Method of Reaching Extreme Altitudes."

  • Glenn Orbits Earth

    Glenn Orbits Earth
"John H. Glenn, Jr., became the first American to go into
orbit. Glenn’s flight achieved parity with the Soviet program. Glenn
orbited Earth three times for a total of 4 hours and 55 minutes in

  • Space Tourism

    Space Tourism
    "SpaceShipOne, became the first private
space vehicle to climb above an altitude of 100 kilometers (62
miles) twice in a fourteen-day period. Air launched by a mother
ship, SpaceShipOne crossed the acknowledged boundary
of Earth’s atmosphere and space." -NASA
  • The Dragon

    The Dragon
The Dragon was the first orbital spacecraft to be launched and recovered by a private company.
  • Dragon V2

    Dragon V2
The DragonV2 is used to develop a new generation of U.S. spacecraft and rockets capable of transporting humans to and from Earth's orbit and American grounds. NASA intends to use such commercial systems to fly U.S. astronauts to and from the International Space Station.
