Operation Breakthrough

Founding
-It began as a response to requests from parents for child care for children of the working poor. The requests were made to Sister Corita Bussanmas and Sister Berta Sailer.
-The program began with 50 infants, toddlers and preschoolers.
- The organization is not religiously affiliated even though the Sisters started it, this is because it is funded partially by the government. -
Additions
The organizaiton expanded to include before- and after-school care. -
Move
-The Center moved to its current location which is an old JC Penny store.
-Its licensed capacity was 353 children -
Expansion
-Operation Breakthrough renovated its space and doubled the size of its facility.
-It can now serve at least 500 children, instead of the previous 353. -
Currently
-Currently, Operation Breakthrough serves over 500 children daily, and is funded through the government and donations.
