DARPA
In 1995 DARPA was formed. -
"Global Network"
In 1962 J.C.R Licklider of M.I.T proposed the concept of a "Global Network". This idea is identical to todays internet. -
The First Network
In 1965 an member of DARPA, Lawrence G. Thomas(with the help of Thomas Merrill) connected the TX-2 Computer with the
Q-32 to create the first Network -
ARPANET
In 1966 Roberts went to DARPA with the concept for ARPANET,
a team solely dedicated to creating a "Global Internet" -
APRANET Growing
Throughout the 70's and 80's ARPANET grew into a much larger corporation and made the concept of a "GLobal Network" a reality. -
ARPANET Ends
In 1989, ARPANET closes its doors. -
The Information Superhighway
In 1994 the Internet took off, being dubbed as the "Informational Superhighway" by Vice President Al Gore. -
Marketing Pioneers
In 1994, banner ads became quite frequent. The big pioneers of Banner Ads were Maytag and United Airlines -
Spam
Spam also grew along with banner ads and email. -
The Internet
In 1995 the FNC states the name would change to the "Internet" -
10,000,000 Hosts
By 1996 there had already been over 10,000,000 in America alone.
