    Used to feed cowboys driving cattle from Texas to New Mexico. The name chuckwagon comes from the word “chuck," which was a slang term for food.

    Coming out at dusk, the lunch wagons would pick up business after restaurants closed, serving workers on the late shift, newspapermen, theatergoers, anyone out and about after dark and hungry for an inexpensive hot meal.
  • Mobile Canteens

    Next version of food truck was a mobile canteen which was invented and authorized by the U.S. Army in 1917.

    "Wienermobile" is a series of automobiles shaped like a hot dog on a bun which are used to promote and advertise Oscar Mayer products in the United States.
