History of Figure Skating
-
The begining
Figure skating began in the 1850s when skaters began experimenting with different jumps and spins on ice. -
Who founded it
Jackson Haines, an American, was the first skater to incorporate ballet and dance movements into his skating, as opposed to focusing on tracing patterns on the ice. -
The Waltz Jump
The waltz jump is usually the first "real" ice skating jump that new figure skaters learn and master. It is also fun to do. A good waltz jump will look and feel like the skater is flying in the air.
