Steam Engine
James Watt devised and produced a working model of a vastly improved steam engine. With the support of manufacturer Matthew Boulton, he built hundreds of the engines. By 1800, five hundred of the Boulton and Watt engines were in use in Britain, pumping out mines and driving the machinery in iron works and in textile mills. -
Electric Battery
Start of electric power via batteries. Invented by Alessandra Volta -
Electromagnetism and the Arc light
Invented by Sir Humphrey Davy allowed for greater use of magnetism via electrical flow. -
Magnetic Induction
Michael Faraday discoveres that electricity can be created by moving a metal rod through an electro magnetic area. -
The incandescent bulb
Thomas A. Edison invented both an incondecent bulb and parrellel circuits allowing for the lighting of houses around the world and the ability to work through the night. -
Induction Motor
Invented by Nikola Telsa and led to a new alternating current system. -
Start of Hydro Electric Power
George Westington was given a contract that allowed him to start the production of a hydro electric power at niagra falls -
Air Transportation
Invented by Wibur and Orville Wright, the first flight only lasted 12 seconds but prooved the concept and allowed for later greater air tansportation -

Construction advancements
Starting with the panama canal remarkable progress start advancing very quickly leading to such giant buildings as the empire state building and the george washington bridge -
Electronic Field
Since the invention of the transistor semicondutors have replaced vacuum tubes and are much more effective for amplifying electronic devices. Also allowing for inexpensive and mass productive circuits and silicon chips which have brought revolutionary changes in electronic design. -
Nuclear Power
Using a newer electric source that has been competing with fossil fuel based power creating 5.3 percent of the nation's energy production. Uses uranium and creates a large amount of heat compared to coal.
