The Education Act
This act established three stages of education (primary, secondary and further education) and was steered through Parliament by the Education Minister, R.A. Butler. It is also provided free education up to the age of 18. -
The Education Reform Act
This provided a National Curriculum stating that core subjects (English, Maths and Science) must be taught from 5-16. This act also introduced national testing (SATs) at 5, 7 and 11. This act was fronted by Kenneth Baker -

I chose to attend Shelfield Sports and Community Academy. A big pull in this decision was the brand new sporting facilities that the school had. -

I became a Sports Leader at Shelfield Community Academy. This role entailed entering Primary schools and delivering Physical Education lessons to their students. -

Shelfield Sports & Community Academy dropped their specialist status and became Shelfield Community Academy. -
The Importance of Teaching
Education Secretary Michael Gove introduced The Importance of Teaching. This stated that Academies do not have to follow the National Curriculum or employ qualified teachers. -

I volunteered as a PE Teaching Assistant one day a week at Ormiston Shelfield Community Academy. -

I became a Learning Support Assistant at Ormiston Shelfield Community Academy working closely with a year seven student with SEND. -
