    A school was set up by the Dedham Classis that allowed for everyone to go to school and learn to read and used part of the church collection to pay for poor children’s education. This allowed all children to have a chance at an education and allowed even children who were poor to go to school. This was followed by even more expansion in education.

    Pennsylvania’s constitution required free public school to ensure that all poor children went to school. Education came to have political importance when it was established that with it came “thriving” democracy. This was in a way a win- win. It ensured that all children, got the education they deserved. Also was beneficial politically. It was took away the class system among children and created equality.

    The purpose of the NEA was “to elevate the character and advance the interest of the teaching profession, and to promote the cause of popular education in the United States” The NEA was not only a movement that helped teachers, but also a group of teachers whose mission was to help children. While the group strived for equality, it had its flaws. Women weren’t allowed to join until 1866, neither were men who taught in private schools.

    Signed by Richard Nixon, it was made to prohibit any school related activity that receives financial at to discriminate against any sex. This was huge in regards to equality in education because it allowed women the freedom to participate and dissipated that divide between genders.

    One Laptop Per Child was founded
    Founded with the goal of giving children in poor countries laptops. Made by a man named Nicholas Negroponte and were created to be user friendly for the children who were experiencing poverty. The computers used flash memory instead of a hard drive. OLPC is important because it gave children who experience poverty the same resources that children in the U.S. have which in turn gave more education opportunities.
