  • Microsoft

    Microsoft released Windows 3.0, a completely new version of Microsoft Windows on May 22, 1990. The version sells more than three million copies in one year. Microsoft Excel version 3, and Word version 1.1 were released. Excel version 3 was also released for Mac in 1990.
  • World Wide Web

    The World Wide Web and the first web page was launched to the public on August 6, 1991. Tim Berners-Lee, a scientist at the CERN European Partial Physics Laboratory in Geneva, Switzerland.
  • Intel

    Intel became the largest volume motherboard manufacturer in the world in 1994.
  • Amazon

    One of the largest and well-known e-commerce sites today opens its website for the first time. Amazon.com was officially opened on July 15, 1995.
  • WiFI

    IEEE introduced 802.11 the wireless (Wi-Fi) network standard in June 1997
  • Y2K

    Computers continue to work, and the world doesn't come to an end on January 1, 2000, as some feared might happen because of the year 2000 bug.
