History of computers

By l.orio
  • Period: to

    1st generation computer

The computers were large and expensive. They included vacuum tubes(a device that controls electric current flow) so obiously, they needed a lot of electricity.
  • Period: to

    2nd generation of computer

Computers were faster and cheaper than 1st generation computers. Instead of having vacuum tubes, they had transistors wich made the computer have a smaller size.
  • Period: to

    3rd generation computer

The computers were faster, smaller and cheaper than the 2nd generation computers. They made less mistackes and needed less electricity. These computers had integrated a circuit small as a transistor, but it worked thousand times faster than the transistors.
  • Period: to

    4th generation computer

4th generation computers are the ones that we use nowadays. They are more comfortable because they are small, cheap, portable and in constant advance. Also, they produce less electricity and less heat. They include a microprocessor (contains the functions of a central processing unit of a computer).
  • Period: to

    5th generation computer

These generation is still being develop by scientists at the present. It will start in the future when the artificial intelligence is more extended.
