Hewlett-Packard

Mar 27, 1939

In 1939, one of the pioneers in computing technology was founded. HP is one of the most successful company's in computing history. I chose this because of how influential HP was in developing computing technology.

ENIAC 1

Mar 21, 1946

More general purpose computer. Was used to calculate artillery firing tables for the US Army. Cost $6,000,000 in today's money. I chose this because it was a very expensive computer and improved upon the Z1.

UNIVAC

Mar 21, 1951

One of thefirst commercial computers. It was able to predict presidential winners. Weighed 13 metric tons and used 5,200 vaccum tubes.

IBM

Mar 27, 1953

This is when IBM enters the computer business. I think that this is important because IBM was the most influential computer company in history.

First Computer Game Spacewar

Mar 21, 1962

First computer game. Developed at MIT. Was a two player only game. I chose it because gaming is a huge part of our lifestyle nowadays.

Apple Lisa

The Apple Lisa was the first home computer to feature a GUI, which we now use everyday. I chose this becuase now almost every computer utilizes a GUI.

Microsoft Windows

This is the most used operating system ever. It is still currently way ahead of any other operating system like Mac OS in terms of usage. I chose this because it is my perferred operating system and it is the operating system used the most ever.

IBM Simon

The first "smartphone". It worked like a PDA and a cell phone. I chose this becuase lots of people these days use smartphones.

iPhone

The world's most popular line of smartphones was invented. I chose this because of the sheer mass of people that have owned and used an iPhone.
