    Sony's release of the 8- track player was the first of its kind and was moderatly succesful in its inital release. this was the first portable device of its kind that allow the user to have his own "cassette library" on the go at this disposal.This was also the Genesis of our modern day portable devices.
  • First commercial portable computer

    The Osborne 1 is the first commercially successful portable computer, released on April 3, 1981 by Osborne Computer Corporation . Developed by Adam Osbourne, Over the decades we could see this invention not only become more powerful, with many different options to use it for but also it became smaller with each passing year to now that anyone that has a cellphone in their pocket, has in essence, a mini - portable computer.
  • First Commercially available phone.

    Though motorola successfully demonstrated this technology capacity 10 years prior it wasnt until 1983 that they released their first comercially available phone, the DynaTAC 8000x was the first commercially available handheld mobile phone. The ways this technology has developed over the last 5 decades has grealty improved our ability in becoming a more connected global community overall.
  • First commercially avaliable GPS

    In 1989, Magellan Navigation Inc. unveiled its Magellan NAV 1000, the world's first commercial handheld GPS receiver, with an inital cost of $3000. Though this technologly was used prior by military services, the application of it being used on a consumer level has not only saved the live of lost persons, but also help emergency responder coordinate rescue efforts with greater efficacy.
